Dillon Washburn was honored at Fort Lewis College's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee banquet

Dillon Washburn, of Pinetop, AZ, was honored with the Troy Bledsoe Male Scholar Athlete Award at the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) banquet, held April 20 in the Student Union Building Ballroom on the campus of Fort Lewis College. Washburn's major is Accounting.

The Dr. Troy Bledsoe Scholar-Athlete Awards are presented each year to the senior male and female student-athletes who best exemplify the balance of excellence in athletics and the classroom. Dr. Bledsoe served as director of athletics at Fort Lewis College from 1974 to 1992. He was also head golf coach and head women's basketball coach at various points of his career. Dr. Bledsoe died on December 30, 2009. He was 83. A Business Administration major with a 3.98 GPA, Washburn has been named the RMAC Summit Award Winner a record three times. He has also earned CoSIDA Academic All-Region VI and Academic All-RMAC first team honors the past two years. He was voted the 2013-14 RMAC Academic Men's Golfer of the Year. Washburn has competed in eight tournaments this year, and is averaging a 77.4 stroke average through 22 rounds. He posted his lowest round of the season (72) on April 4 at the Western New Mexico Mustang Intercollegiate tournament.
