Lona Nopah receives Introduction to Algebra HOPE Award from Freshman Math Program

Lona Nopah, of Bayfield, CO, received the Introduction to Algebra HOPE Award from the Freshman Math Program. This award is for students who demonstrate hard work, have possibly overcome obstacles, have shown persistence, and have high expectations, as evidenced by exponential growth throughout the term. Nopah also received the DRIVE Award, given to the students who frequently visit the Algebra Alcove and whose performance demonstrates qualities of being disciplined, ready, independent, visionary and enthusiastic/eager. Nopah's major is Sociology & Human Services.

The Freshman Math Program at Fort Lewis College is designed to help all students achieve their goals for higher education by helping them develop mathematical skills and thinking, to increase their confidence in their mathematical abilities, and to inspire students to pursue mathematics with enthusiasm.
