Melanie Walker attended and presented at American Chemical Society conference

2016 Mar 25

Melanie Walker, of Denver, CO, attended and presented at the semi-annual American Chemical Society conference in San Diego, CA, from March 14-18, 2016. This meeting happens twice a year and is an opportunity for chemists from around the world to share research data and results.

Walker's major is Chemistry. Walker presented work she conducted for the last year with Bill Collins on the preparation and use of new chemical compounds to fight colony collapse disorder. The compounds she prepared show promise in increasing the health of beehives and could become the first line of defense in helping bees fight back against parasitic mites that can decimate bee colonies.
