Natalie Joe, of Farmington, NM, attended and presented at the semi-annual American Chemical Society conference in San Diego, CA, from March 14-18, 2016. This meeting happens twice a year and is an opportunity for chemists from around the world to share research data and results.

Joe's major is Double Major: Biology - Cellular & Molecular Biology Option & Chemistry-Biochemistry Option. Joe presented research that she conducted at Fort Lewis College as part of the NIH-MARC program. She conducted research for two years with Aimee Morris in the Chemistry department on the preparation of new metal-containing compound that shows promise as an innovative and low cost treatment for cancer. Based on this research and her strong academic record, Joe has been accepted to a prestigious PhD program in Cellular and Molecular Medicine at Johns Hopkins University that she will begin this Fall.
